The God-factor
Libyan government has been, as all Middle-eastern governments of the last few decades have been, a totalitarian, repressive, one-party regime. But the comparison ends here. As against the rest, Libyan governing system has been socialistic, egalitarian, elitist, non-capitalistic, and tribalistic. The system did not allow for amassment of wealth by a few, a scourge that afflicts every country of today’s world, especially rampant in USA, countries of the European Union, India, and many others. Another universal scourge, the ever fattening banks, which plague the world economies, and send millions to the slums every year, was not allowed to sink its root much deep in Libya. Although its existence was tolerated, its tyrannical arms and poisonous fangs were clipped.
While it is generally agreed that the uprisings in the Arab world are justified, as also the on-going protests in various other parts, it has been difficult to say the same of the Libyan uprising. The uprisings in other parts of the Arab world were genuine, based on popular sentiment and non-violent. The uprising in Libya is instigated, not supported but by a few of the locals, and violent (which immediately energizes the violence loving West).
Another important difference between other uprisings and that of Libya is that the primary reason in other cases was economic. And, since the political regimes were aligned with the capitalists, who financed the regimes and controlled them (like in USA, Europe, or India), the demand of the uprisings was change of regimes for economic reason. A second reason for the uprising was freedom. The repressive regimes (including Libyan, or at least to a degree) controlled every aspect of life of the common people, including religious. (The rich escaped the control through frequent travels outside). For the rest it was becoming intolerable.
But the exported, planted, instigated, and fully supported uprising in Libya (accidentally in its east, where the oil is) is not guided by economic factors. Libyans are by and large well fed, well housed, well educated, and well pensioned. Majority of Libyan families own their houses. Compare this with the oil-rich states where more than half of the indigenous population cannot afford to own their homes. So, if there is a cause for revolt, it can be for liberty. And, it would be a just demand. But that is not the demand of the rebel leadership at the moment. They want nothing less than change in the regime. However, since the Libyan regime has representation from the grassroots levels, the demand for change in regime is seen by the common public as a sinister one and a dagger at the back of Libya by the enemies of the state and the people hiding behind the rebels. It can be said therefore, that while the general public is still in favor of the present regime, the public in towns where the rebels have taken over, helplessly watches the struggle: they risk their lives at the hands of the infiltrated rebels if they voice any protest.
It is commonly being said, including by the American intellectuals, that the Western concern for the people of Libya, their effort to liberate them from the repressive regime, and regard for their dignity, are post dated by several decades. It appears the present protest was foreseen 25 years ago, when, those who could lead the rebellion, take up arms, shoot fellow-Libyans, and force-change the regime, were being trained in USA and Britain. (The West is a perfect-planner. It plans its actions a quarter century in advance). Several hundred revolutionaries, mercenaries, malcontent elements, trouble-makers, and thugs of all sorts, were receiving training and brain-washing in the West. Just like in Iraq, where, with the fall of Baghdad, a plane-load of the team to form a new government, was dislodged, similarly, ships off-loaded these resistance and revolutionary leaders on the Libyan shores well furnished with all kinds of light and middle-weight arms, military equipments, and, of course, sufficient dollars. Flashing newest and latest weapons, they appeared from nowhere and suddenly took charge of the armed resistance. From the first day too, they knew how to operate those advance military equipments. Not surprisingly, in this particular case, their demand has not been regime-change alone, since their own tribal leaders are part of the governing system, their demand is removal of Qaddafi. Obviously, if the regime-heads start coming down every time a demand is made, the land will have as many regime-heads as many days there are in a year. This is why the enemies of a regime consistently cling to this demand. It cannot be met, and thus becomes the easiest excuse for attack.
Why do USA and its auxiliary states called the European Union, want Qaddafi gone? Isn’t Qaddafi, the cranky, who never built palaces or mansions for himself or family, who lived in tents, who brought water to the deserts, offered loans for marriages and house-construction, who distributed the oil wealth evenly, who allowed interest-free loans for businesses, who did not allow a small number of people to own a large amount of wealth, who was hugely popular in Africa because of the aid he offered every country of the continent, and who had placed 300 million dollars before the Americans as part of his share in a 500 million dollar satellite project (the RASCOM – Regional African Satellite Communication Organization) so that Africa would have its own satellite and slash communication costs in the continent and release the Africans from paying interests running into hundreds of millions of dollars paid yearly to the West? Is it because:
It was Gaddafi’s Libya that offered all of Africa its first revolution in modern times – connecting the entire continent by telephone, television, radio broadcasting and several other technological applications such as telemedicine and distance teaching. For most Africans, Gaddafi is a generous man, a humanist, known for his unselfish support for the struggle against the racist regime in South Africa. If he had been an egotist, he wouldn’t have risked the wrath of the West to help the ANC both militarily and financially in the fight against apartheid. This was why Mandela, soon after his release from 27 years in jail, decided to break the UN embargo and travel to Libya on 23 October 1997. For five long years, no plane could touch down in Libya because of the embargo. One needed to take a plane to the Tunisian city of Jerba and continue by road for five hours to reach Ben Gardane, cross the border and continue on a desert road for three hours before reaching Tripoli. The other solution was to go through Malta, and take a night ferry on ill-maintained boats to the Libyan coast. A hellish journey for a whole people, simply to punish one man.
Mandela didn’t mince his words when the former US president Bill Clinton said the visit was an ‘unwelcome’ one – ‘No country can claim to be the policeman of the world and no state can dictate to another what it should do’. He added – ‘Those that yesterday were friends of our enemies have the gall today to tell me not to visit my brother Gaddafi, they are advising us to be ungrateful and forget our friends of the past.’ (The Lies Behind the West’s War on Libya, Jean Paul Pougala at WSWS.com)
But, wasn’t Qaddafi the man who nationalized the oil industry, who created the Dinar and was promoting its use in the financial transactions within the 500 year old neglected African continent, who did not approve of the Dollar or the Euro, who did not allow the multinationals to step into his country in a big way, who would not allow for foreign military bases, or co-operate with the Western powers in matters of defense and arms purchases, or take a softer stance on Israel?
Like Saddam Hussein, Qaddafi too is not the yes-man type that the West likes to deal with. In its search for global power, control, and supremacy (without which Christianity and Judaism will not see prediction of the appearance of the Messiah come true), men like Qaddafi are impediments. Their presence prevents the descending down of the Messiah. He must go, and his socialist, anti-capitalist, anti-corporatocracy government must go.
As always is the case, the West has one intention, while the media it owns and controls, echoes another. Hypocrisy is so rampant now that the most die-hard supporters of the West and its political leadership have shown signs of what the Prophet had predicted: “Such tribulations will descend upon you (near the end of times) that will compel the most tolerant of you to cry out in despair: ‘Oh, this one!?’” The most tolerant of the supporters of Western regimes are now uttering in disbelief, ‘Oh, this one?’ When USA and Britain say that they will help the rebels in Libya with funds, while the rebels are touting about with their supplied guns, then, what it means is that the $30 billion of Libyan wealth that has been frozen by the USA, will not only be depleted to a single digit after deduction of the humanitarian war costs, but that single digit wealth will also disappear under the entry marking: Amounts supplied to the ‘freedom fighters.’
In their Biblical duty to force the Messiah down from the heavens, by creating a world in chaos, in their efforts to turn the Mediterranean into the Roman Sea, seal up Africa and begin to suck blood again, in their efforts to encircle Russia from all sides, weaken the Chinese economy by rocketing up the oil prices, by emptying its arm stores of old stocks for new, raining down latest untried bombs to destroy nations built over decades, and ruthlessly dispatching millions to their graves, the USA has turned into a demonic state, hated by the peoples of the East and West. Is there any escape from the destruction it will cause, anytime, anywhere in the globe? Well, it doesn’t look like anybody can stop it from attempting its murderous onslaught upon one country after another. This is because the forces that control it, a small number of people powerfully placed all over the USA, are fanatical. And there is no cure for fanaticism. A fanatic is self-destruct. How can he have any sympathy for others?
It is increasingly obvious that after Libya, the western coalition will go after Algeria, because apart from its huge energy resources, the country has cash reserves of around €150 billion. This is what lures the countries that are bombing Libya and they all have one thing in common – they are practically bankrupt. The USA alone, has a staggering debt of $US14,000 billion, France, Great Britain and Italy each have a US$2,000 billion public deficit compared to less than US$400 billion in public debt for 46 African countries combined.
One of the reasons why any active opposition is not in the offing is fear of the third world war. Several countries are quite opposed to the fanaticisms of the ideas considering the Messiah, or the idea to grab the oil while it lasts, but they do not wish to confront.
China, along with Russia, Brazil, India and Germany, abstained on the UN Security Council resolution authorising the imposition of a “no-fly zone” over Libya. Beijing was nonetheless unwilling to exercise its veto power in the UN, as that would have quickly led to a marked deterioration of relations with the US and Europe. At the same time, China was not in a position militarily to further its own interests by joining in the assault on the Libyan regime. Unlike the US, Britain and France, China’s blue water navy is only emerging and lacks any aircraft carrier capacity. Therefore, it does not look like the clarion call for death and destruction targeting the vulnerable nations, will end too soon. The one hope that the 300-year old tree, massive from outside, but turning hollow from inside, on which a tiny minority feeds, could collapse. But that is not a cheery option even for its rivals, because of the global disturbance it will cause. Further, it is thought that even when it falls – which it must, the time has come – the viruses that ate it from inside, have already moved out in several directions. They have the money, and occupy every post of influence in numbers that are far disproportionate to their numbers. They have an agenda. It is a holy agenda. The faith in it is in the blood of every one of them, no matter how far away from religion. They will exercise power, control, and influence from other lands and the preparations for the Messiah to descend will go on.
But, whoever ignored God-factor, ignored a big reality.
